How to save money when buying flowers

By Tracy Anderson

With the right flowers, you can say anything. Whether it's "I love you" , "I'm sorry" , "Good work" , or "Get well soon", flowers can easily express what you want to say which is why they're popular throughout the world.

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to buy those attractive yet expensive bouquets, especially during these hard times. This is why you should be flower savvy. By that, I mean you should know where to get the flowers you need at the right price.

The good thing about flowers is they always look beautiful regardless of how much you pay for them. Cheap flowers nowadays don't have to be wilted or dying. You can get a good selection without paying through the nose.

The trick is to scout around until you find the right flower shop. No, you don't have to spend the whole day circling the globe. Simply open your computer and browse through the hundreds of online flower shops. In many cases, your efforts will be rewarded with a florist that offers beautiful flowers without draining your wallet.

Keep an eye for sites that offer discounts and other special promotions. You'll be surprised at what you find if you know how to look. Remember that patience has its rewards.

It's always a good idea to order in advance to avoid the holiday rush when prices normally rise. Ordering a month ahead of the actual event is an easy way to get special deals.

Another great way to save is to find an online florist that is linked to local flower shops in your area. This is one way of reducing or minimizing delivery costs.

Your local grocer, supermarket or department store may also provide you with free coupons that offer free delivery, discounts or other special promotions when your purchase flowers at selected stores. Online coupons can do the same thing. This is a practical way of getting affordable flowers.

Lastly, be sure to check whether the flowers you purchase are real or fake. Artificial flowers are common nowadays and they generally cost lower than the real thing. To avoid trouble when ordering online, read the fine print.
