Facts about Asbestos Litigation

By Bart Icles

Anyone directly or indirectly affected with asbestos diseases should highly consider consulting an Asbestos Lawyer for proper and immediate legal help. Asbestos was a widely used material for construction, automotive parts, insulation, piping, clothing, and other domestic applications, being a cheap and an effective source of basic building material during the early 1940's. Despite its apparent discovery of having dangerous properties that lead to many to serious illnesses, the involved companies hid this information in order to continue using it. It was only after many reported cases of its ill effects surfaced recently that the federal government established an Asbestos law to help control and stop its blatant application.

Approximately 10 million workers had already been exposed to asbestos after its dark revelation, and that by 1970, almost more than 25 million tons of asbestos was already incorporated into the public areas around the United States. Exposure to the asbestos mineral happens when anyone is in close proximity to any building or material laden with asbestos fibers and inhaling it. Workers exposed to asbestos brought it into their homes by way of contaminated clothing, hair, and shoes, thereby also affecting their immediate family members. Since it is colorless, odorless and tasteless, it was almost next to impossible to detect, unless viewed by using a microscope.

The damaging effects of asbestos was already known by many industries that used it for their desired purposes - as early on during the 1920's, yet did nothing to correct this; money and profits was only their main concern, and the protection of their workers and their families was almost but nil. Some insurance companies during this period paid higher insurance premiums on workers most likely working in asbestos-laden areas, while most neglected to do this.

As years passed, people working in asbestos mines and exposed to the material as a by-product ingredient learned too late of its apparent dangers. It was also only recently that proper health and safety measures were implemented by the government when the health problems associated to asbestos exposure came to light, as well as the occurrence of many fatalities.

Mesothelioma is the form of cancer primarily related to exposure to asbestos minerals and its by-products. This disease affects the outer lining of the lungs, internal chest wall, and other nearby organs such as the heart and the lining of the abdominal cavity. Lung cancer is also one among these, as well as asbestosis. When asbestos fibers invade the lungs, it makes breathing difficult and painful.

If you suspect to be affected with any illness associated with exposure to asbestos, you are absolutely entitled to be compensated for it and should contact an Asbestos Lawyer immediately for proper legal action.

Easy to Digest Diets Prove Beneficial To the Body

By by Dr. Lorna Mistranski

There is substantial research that shows a Mediterranean diet provides protection against type 2 diabetes.

The composites of what make the Mediterranean diet so perfect against type 2 is it is robust in olive oil, grains, nuts vegetables, and fish yet it is low in meat, alcohol, and dairy products.

Studies hint that such a diet plays a major role in cardiovascular disease, however, there are not any current studies in how this diet effects the diabetic population.

Researchers gathered 13,000 graduates from the University of Navarra in Spain with no history of diabetes and recruited between December 1999 and November 2007; each graduate had their dietary habits and health were subsequently tracked.

The subjects started the study off by answering a questionnaire that was designed to gauge their overall dietary habits. The 136 questions that were given to the participants, specific questions were asked on how they cooked their foods, what types of oils they used, and dietary products they used.

Researchers were able to gather information from the participant's lifestyle, risk factors, diet, and other medical conditions by administering a series of questionnaires every two years. From this data, scientist were able to pick up cases of the 13,000 that developed diabetes.

The average follow up period turned out to be 4 years and researchers found that the subjects who stuck closely to the diet had a lower risk of diabetes. The diet was associated with an 83% relative reduction in the risk of developing diabetes.

Interestingly, those participants who stuck strictly to the diet were expected to have the highest prevalence of risk factors for diabetes such as they got older with age, a family history of diabetes, and a higher proportion of ex-smokers.

This did not happen. In fact the participants had a lower risk of diabetes which suggested that the diet might provide substantial protection.

The characteristics of the diet include a high intake of fiber and vegetable fat, a low intake of trans fatty acids, and a moderate intake of alcohol.

In addition, a key element of the diet is the abundant use of virgin oil for cooking, frying, spreading on bread, and dressing salads.

The scientist finished by calling for larger cohorts and trials to confirm their findings.

Choose the Right Protein for Optimal Muscle Growth

By Nathaniel Millsby PHD

Whey protein isolate and whey protein powder concentrate is an inquiry very frequently asked. This question without a doubt is one that has crossed the minds of many aspiring weight lifters when staring at the shelves of various kinds of whey protein powder available in the health food supermarket.

Which one is right for you; concentrate or isolate?

The most important differentiation between the two is that Isolate is processed at deeper levels so that the fat and lactose are removed. This more elaborate method provides a superior quality of protein. The fact is that over 90% of whey protein powder isolate is protein calculated by weight.

This is important as lesser levels of fat are a help for the regular daily diet of bodybuilders and when whey is used for the purpose of getting rid of excess weight.

Decreased lactose levels are also a positive for individuals who are lactose intolerant and can also diminish the chance of that bloated feeling that can go along with some protein supplements. There are some side effects to using whey protein isolate nonetheless.

Although whey has a high protein ratio, isolate powder will be a little higher in price. The procedure isolate goes through to filter out the key compounds is significantly more rigorous as it remove the components that are known as alpha lactoglobulins and lactoferrins which is vital immune boosters.

Whey concentrate has lesser protein available and the protein content can range anywhere between 29% in upwards of 89% in some brands. Whey concentrate protein contains higher levels of lactose so anyone who suffers from lactose intolerance should to be very aware.

Whey protein concentrate powder does have an advantage because it cost less so this can be a better substitute depending on what your financial plan is. Whey concentrate protein powder also contains small levels of cholesterol, which is another benefit to think about for your diet.

On the whole, dietary and medical circumstances call for action to be taken into consideration when choosing the type of whey protein powder you choose.

Isolate may have the minor edge in terms of biological value (BV) and will provide you with more worth for the money if you are requiring a higher dosage per serving of protein.

Making The Jump To Poker Chips With Denominations

By Kieth Sanna

Selecting between poker chips with denominations and the standard color chips is pretty simple. Nonetheless, your preference will very much depend on what type of game you generally play. Frequency and the number of players involved in the game also play a major part in making a choice.

Poker chips with denominations usually come in the same type of format. You will get a mixture of 1 dollar chips, 5 dollar chips, 10 dollar chips, 25 dollar chips, and 100 dollar chips. That is 5 different denominations of poker chips. The more denominations you have though, the better the game will be.

A standard colored chip sets contains 5 diverse colors. The chips come in white, red, blue, green, and black colors. Although having diverse chip colors is good, a corresponding denomination is still needed because without, you might get confused as you go along the game.

So now you have to decide what type of game you and your friends usually play. Do you play tournaments or cash games? Poker chips with denominations are better in tournaments. In cash games though, you will want to create a unique set of denominations for each chip, so the plain colored chips would work better.

Another factor is the frequency of your play, for instance in a specific month. If you play poker 3 or more times per month, it would be wise to purchase a poker chip set that will fit your needs. Choosing between plain colored chips or chips with denominations really depends on you. I always recommend keeping both types.

How many players you usually have at a poker game will affect your decision to go with or without denominations. In my mind though, poker chips with denominations are the best way to go. You can still use them in cash games, but they work best in tournaments.

Poker chips with denominations will amaze everyone at your poker game. I guarantee that with your poker chips set, you will entice a lot of people to join your poker game.

When the denominations on the poker chips do not coincide with the denominations you play in a cash game, you will have to improvise. Unless, you have both kinds of chips, colored and with denominations. You can also get customized poker chips with denominations that will work in your cash game. If you play lower stakes than what are on the poker chips, try to get some customized.

Talk With Women - How to Get Her Interested And Engaged

By Will Combs

I hope that you have never whistled at a girl or tried to gain her attention through a pickup line.

If you have you probably realize now that girls do not respond positively to these pathetic attempts to communicate with them. If you have not realized it and have gotten a positive response with this approach I suggest a visit to the doctor because you may be in need of some Penicillin.

During your actual conversation with a woman is when she will decide if you are a creep and mace you in the face or you are a cute guy and give you her phone number.

The best piece of advice I have been given on conversation is "You have to be interested in order to be interesting." In other words you must take the initiative to get to know her, this is done by asking her questions.

There are two basic questions I suggest:

1. Where are you from?

2. What do you do for work/school?

This will get a response for example: "I am from here, born and raised"

You should respond with a follow up question such as: "Really, so all your family lives here also?"

The purpose for these specific questions is they will almost always elicit a response that will give you more information for follow up questions.

Another example if you use question #2 and she responds with: "I work in sales"

You could then follow up with "What sort of sales?" or "How long have you been doing it?" or even simple questions such as "do you like it?"

After you ask 2 or 3 follow up questions you should answer the questions you asked her, regardless of if she asks them of you or not. In other words after she told you where she was from, and how long she lived there, ... you would respond with telling her where you are from and how long you have lived there.

By answering your own questions you overcome two large obstacles.

1. She does not feel like she is being interviewed

2. She feels like she is getting to know you because you are revealing information about yourself.

Last tip; Don't say anything negative. Instead say good things and don't talk bad about other people. A woman will form a negative opinion of you if you are complaining about something or bad mouthing someone the first time she meets you.

Will a Criminal Case Affect My Security Clearance?

By Brad Laybourne

If you have a security clearance for your occupation and end up getting charged for a criminal or drunk driving offense, you may be worried about losing your clearance. And with good reason. You will have to fill out a form when you renew your clearance, and there is a question on the form asking if you have been charged or issued a ticket for any criminal or drunk driving offense.

You will notice that the question is not whether you have been convicted, but rather if you have been charged. These are two very different things. Anyone can charge anyone with anything at any time in the United States, but it takes the government proving your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt for a jury to convict you.

The agency reviewing your security clearance form does a "whole person" analysis, meaning the agency considers whether the entirety of your profile would qualify you for a clearance. Thus, there is no bright-line rule as to whether your charges or convictions will disqualify you.

This is important for two reasons. One, you should not assume that any one charge or conviction will automatically cause you to lose your clearance. And two, even if you beat your case in court, you still must explain and mitigate your charges. For example, if you get drunk driving charges dismissed, it is still a good idea to enroll in some sort of alcohol counseling anyway to smooth over the fact that you got the charge.

There are still some general rules to consider. One is that if the court is lenient with you, the panel reviewing your form will look favorably on that fact. Another is that domestic violence convictions are usually an automatic disqualifier.

The best rule of thumb is that you should work with an experienced criminal law attorney to ensure the best possible outcome with the least amount of risk. Even if you lose your security clearance, you still need to position yourself for obtaining other employment by minimizing the hit to your criminal record.

Legal Documents Translation - The Secrets

By Jessica Houghton

There are numerous phenomena in the world that necessitate acute accuracy, earnestness and knowledge. Legal documents translation is more or less one of those. Regulations customarily contain specific language expressions. Simply speaking, legal translation tends to be an extremely culture-dependent field. Nearly all translators agree on the fact that legal translation is no matter of joke.

As a consequence this remains a field for extremely trained specialists only. At present, there are many translators all over the world who dedicate themselves to various features of legal documents translation. They're reliably supplying diverse matters with their skilled translations of legal documents, alongside their academic papers. Take, for instance, an occurrence of mistranslation within an individual clause of a contract...you cannot even envisage how easily this terminates in lawsuits or financial/goodwill defeats.

As an expert translates clauses or pages in legal matters, he or she must keep in mind a thing or two.

Any passage that you get to translate to a large extent belongs to a exact (and probably a unique) legal classification or background. That means the source document or text is greatly affected by the detailed culture or foundation it belongs to. No legal document in the world is without the suggestion of a particular nature of legal language.

In addition, your final text needs to be read (and appreciated) by someone who is used to a large extent different legal classification or legal culture.. The same applies to the language of the target text. Most modern legal writing or contracts aspire to found visibly clear privileges or duties for various other individuals.

It's also indispensable that there is sound and useful correspondence of such rights or responsibilities between that source text and its translation. However, legal translation can moreover occupy key restrictions like Certificates of Accuracy or Witness Statements.

Likewise, some legal translations handle Depositions, Trusts or Wills. Mammoth expertise are called for on the part of the translator, concerning Articles of Incorporation, or Litigation Docs. A significant chunk of legal documents translation work in the world rests on Immigration Documents and Property/Exhibit Labels.

These translations involve many people's lives and wellbeing considering that, in some instances, the translator is required to attend court hearings. And besides these terminological lacunae and lexical gaps, a translator might have to focus on many additional sensitive aspects.

How To Choose And Wear A Tie Clip With A Tuxedo

By Victor R. Santerino

Tie clips serve a few purposes. They hide the buttons of the shirt, help the tie to stay neatly in place, and provide a nice visual to link the shirt and the jacket.

Men's tie clips are a handy fashion accessory. Whereas the tie pin must be pressed all the way through the material of the shirt where it can ultimately cause damage, the tie clip slides onto the shirt and tie, securing it safely in position in the process.

Tie clips are practical as well as stylish. What man hasn't had an unanchored tie flop forward risking coffee dunks and snags in office equipment. This might be funny in comedy sketches, but it is not funny in real life. A tie clip keeps your expensive tie snug against your shirt and out of harm's way.

A riskier scenario enfolds at romantic evenings with candle lit dining. Reaching across the table with a floppy tie could result in "tie flamb." Again, funny in the movies, but not a smooth move to make yourself!

The spring-loaded mechanism of the tie clip offers a firm hold, easily placed properly straight across the tie. The securest placement to avoid "tie flop" is just below halfway down the tie; you may shift that placement higher if ornament is your main concern.

Tie clips are obtainable in an infinite range of different styles, colors, materials and designs. Some have nice chains looped along their length. Others have company logo's or are intended to publicize your pastime or area of interest such as your much loved sports team, your make of car or even your preferred beer.

The classic standard of the formal tuxedo tie clip is a design in gold. Do take the color of the shirt and tie into account when choosing your tie clip.

Of course the plain gold tie clip really works with a black tux, a white shirt, and a plain dark tie. If you're in a tux with more embellishments in the suit or accessories, choose your tie clip accordingly. Just follow the rules of quality and good taste and you'll be fine.

Deciding About Arthroscopy

By Dr. Richard Edelson

Orthopedic Knee Evaluation: What is Involved?

First things first: See your M.D. for a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. Once you have done this, you will set an appointment for an evaluation of your knee problem. Your orthopedic surgeon will do three things at your initial appointment: Conduct a medical history, complete a physical examination, and order some tests.

Your orthopedic surgeon will ask you about both your specific knee problems and your general health when conducting your medical history.

Your physical examination will mostly be focused on your leg and knee. Your orthopedic surgeon will evaluate the overall alignment of your leg and determine the ROM (range of motion) of your knee as well as its muscle strength and its stability.

Once these steps are done, the orthopedic surgeon will send you for testing. You are likely to have some blood testing done. This will help detect the presence of arthritis. You will probably also have some x-rays as well as an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). It is necessary to get both kinds of images because they provide different types of information. X-rays provide information about bones. The MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) provides information about soft tissues.

The orthopedic surgeon will discuss the results of your testing with you and help you to decide what route to take in dealing with your knee problems. He or she will explain your options. They will probably include medication as well as several types of surgery. Arthroscopy will probably be one of your options.

Click here for more on athletic injuries .

Your orthopedic surgeon will talk to you about the risks involved in arthroscopy - both those that may be encountered during the surgery and afterwards.

Your orthopedic surgeon will be more likely to recommend arthroscopy for you if you have experienced any of the following: Problems with the performance of your knee, such as giving way or catching. Persistent swelling and pain. Exhaustion of options, such as knee braces, medications, and physical therapy. Or if you just generally dont feel safe performing your ADL (activities of daily living) because of an unreliable knee, you may be a good candidate for arthroscopy.

Overall, arthroscopy is a safe and successful procedure that is appropriate for a broad range of people. Patients generally range in age from 20-60; however, this surgery has been successfully used on patients under the age of ten and on those over the age of eighty.

Preparing Yourself for Arthroscopy

Once your decision is made, your orthopedic surgeon will send you back to your physician for a complete physical. By doing this, you will be sure that everything is in good working order, and you will know about anything that may cause complications before your surgery.

Your doctor may do more tests at the request of the orthopedic surgeon. Sometimes a cardiogram is done. Sometimes more blood work is called for. In general, anything that will clarify your general condition so that your treatment can be exactly right for you, will be done.

If you are taking any over-the-counter products such as medications or supplements, remember to let your doctor and your orthopedic surgeon know about it. If you need to discontinue any of these products before surgery, they will inform you.

Passive Solar Design: A Good Start To Living Off The Grid

By Tim McDonald

Passive solar design is one of the simplest ways to improve your home's value and save electricity at the same time.

Passive solar design is a technique of using the sun to naturally heat and light up your home or office. This is achieved by using various building features and materials to improve heating and cooling efficiency. The best part about passive solar design is that it is relatively simple to implement, little maintenance is needed, and your home's market value can increase considerably.

Your home's passive solar potential is determined by where and how it is situated and by the types of windows and materials used. Although most buildings can be optimized to receive the ideal amount of sunshine, it is easier if they are on flat land or a sun-facing slope. If your home is surrounded by many trees, make sure they are deciduous so that they shade your home in summer, but their bare branches let sunlight through in winter. Also, try avoid nearby buildings that create too much shade.

When constructing a new home, make sure it is built so that the length of the house faces the sun, allowing the maximum amount of sunlight. Also note how the size, shape and placement of windows will determine the amount of natural heat and light in your home.

So how does the sun heat your home? There are three ways:

1) Direct - the heat from the direct sunshine on an object.

2) Indirect gain - radiated heat from objects heated by the sun.

3) Isolated - caused from the air movement in your home.

To maximize the sun's natural heat from all three sources, it is best to use large windows on the sun-facing side of your home.

All that sunlight and heat in your home is useless, if it cannot be stored and used when the sun is set. The solution is to use heat-absorbent flooring and walls that carry on radiating heat long into the night. A simple way to reduce power cost in winter is to locate to rooms in your house that get the most sunshine at certain times of day. Also, shady rooms should be cut-off (their doors closed) from the rest of the house to retain heat better.

To control how much sunlight and heat enters your home in summer, you could install roof overhangs. They should be the right breadth to block out the hot midday sun, but let in low-angle, weaker sunlight too. And do not forget to use the right foliage and trees in your garden to control how much seasonal sunlight enters your home.

For current buildings, the simplest passive solar design solution is to replace your windows with modern ones, that use various methods to store up 50% more heat. Although they are 10% to 15% more expensive, they pay for themselves in the long-term from all the power saved to heat your home.

Also known as Low-emissivity (Low-E) windows, double-glazed windows are great at letting through sunlight, but retaining that natural heat inside. Some of them have multiple panes of glass with a gap of argon or krypton gas to store the heat. Also to reduce heat loss, make sure your windows and doors are well-sealed.

The type of windows frames you use can also make a huge difference. Metal frames should be avoided since they draw heat out of your home in winter, but heat up your home in summer. It is better to use wooden, vinyl or fiberglass frames to insulate your home better. When you do buy modern windows make sure they are labeled by the National Fenestration Rating Council or by Energy Star. That way you will be able to buy the right windows for your needs and budget.

The whole idea behind passive solar design is to use the sun's natural heat in such a way that it reduces your energy consumption and expenses. So before going out and getting the latest and greatest passive solar design and products, always weigh up the cost involved with how much you will save in energy bills in the long-term.

US Dollar Guru (Part II)

By Ahmad Hassam

Suppose you have the data and calculated the currency correlations of the major pairs. The correlation between GBP/USD and EUR/USD is 0.68. This correlation coefficient means both the pairs move in the same direction 68% of the time.

USD/CHF and EUR/USD have a correlation coefficient of -0.975. This is pretty close to (-1). It means both these pairs move in the opposite direction almost all the time. To be precise 97.5% of the time if USD/CHF moves up, the pair EUR/USD will move down!

You have this information. It tells you how much these pairs move in the same or opposite directions. Suppose you trade both the pairs USD/CHF and EUR/USD by going long at the same time. What you will be doing is in fact canceling both the positions.

If you win on USD/CHF, you will lose on EUR/USD and vice versa. The two trades would effectively cancel each other due to the negative correlation between the two pairs. A savvy investor would go long on USD/CHF and go short on EUR/USD. So you are shorting USD in both the trades and diversifying the USD bearish investment.

You can make entry and exit decisions for each trade based on currency correlations. Suppose GBP/USD starts showing volatility. It approaches a resistance level. You plan on going long on a breakout.

However, you notice that the other three pairs are not moving as much as the GBP/USD. EUR/USD is not moving up. USD/CHF is not moving down. USD/JPY is not moving down. This means that the move in GBP/USD is solely pound driven related to some news in the British economy.

Now you know that the move in GBP/USD pair is Pound driven and not US Dollar driven. You can take advantage of this information by ignoring the GBP driven move and waiting for a later opportunity that involves simultaneous correlated moves of all the major pairs.

Lets take another example to make things more clear. Suppose you have taken a short position on EUR/USD currency pair. You want to know will the currency pair proceed down towards your profit target. You also want to know can it go against you. If so when to exit the trade with a small loss!

Your EUR/USD has broken the S1 support pivot level and heading towards M1. By looking at the pair EUR/GBP, you find that it has paused at its S1 support pivot level and is showing signs of reversing to the upside.

In this type of a situation, knowledge of currency correlations can tell you if EUR/GBP breaks through the S1 level, you are poised for a profitable trade. However, if it reverses and heads back to the upside, you should watch the indicators and exit before taking a big loss. As you mature in forex trading, you might consider trading a basket of all the major currencies.

You will be putting in lots of practice analyzing common words and common sentence structure. The more you focus on this the more your brain gets used to seeing these things. That is the difference between reading from left to right, or looking at a large block of text and understanding it.

By practicing the techniques that are involved in speed reading, you will be pushing your comprehension and understanding of text like you never thought you could. The time it takes for someone to master speed reading will vary, getting rid of bad habits that will slow you down, like pronouncing words and moving your lips while you read will speed up the process.

If you are one of those people that like to move your lips as you read, then you just slowing down the number of words you are able to read a minute. The brain is much faster than the mouth, and you should be able to take in 3 times more words than you can speak.

Having the skill to speed read can make a significant difference in your life, especially if reading is a strong component of your work. Implementing some simple techniques can get you reading faster and more efficiently in no time at all.

The Risk Factors for Ischemic Heart Disease

By Barb Hicks

Narrowed coronary arteries cause a decrease in blood flow to the heart. This ailment is also referred to as Ischemic Heart Disease. The reason for the narrowed arteries is cholesterol deposits sticking to the artery wall, thus creating a blockage that hampers the free flow of blood to the heart. These deposits harden and cause the arteries to harden as well. The medical term used to describe this is atherosclerosis. In addition, this term is most often interchangeable with arteriosclerosis. Both of these ailments are identical in that they both prevent blood flow from reaching the heart.

High cholesteril and triglyceride levels are what creates the placque buildup or arteriosclerosis. When this occurs, blockage occurs in the blood vessels which are the life giving forces that feed the heart. Once this has occurred, the blockage to the heart will result in heart attack symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath and irregular heart beat. However, if heart disease was already present, the patient will not feel these symptoms as the nerves surronding the heart have already been damaged.

As time passes, plaque deposits narrow the arteries causing inefficient blood flow, which can also lead to the development of a type of Ischemic heart disease called angina. Angina Pectoris, or strangling, is chest pain caused by lack of oxygen to the heart due to poor blood supply. This puts the patient at an extremely high risk for heart attack and cardiac arrhythmia.

People who are at risk for ischemic heart disease most likely have a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. The risks, in most instances, can be alleviated or eliminated altogether by drastic changes in lifestyle such as losing weight and stopping smoking. While these changes may reduce risks, they do not necessarily cure ischemic heart disease that is already present. If the person has had a previous heart attack, they have an increased risk for having another heart attack within 5 years. Regular visits with your physician to monitor any changes in the patient's condition will alert the physician to any potential problems that may crop up and slow down the rate of disease progression.

There is good news regarding ischemic heart disease. It is able to be prevented or its severity lessened with proper healthcare and lifestyle changes. Though these changes may seem a daunting task after being set in your ways for twenty to thirty years, the results of these changes are well worth the effort.

How Can Whey Protein Help Your Workouts?

By Nathaniel Millsby PHD

Whey protein isolate and whey protein powder concentrate is an examination very frequently sought. This question without a doubt is one that has crossed the minds of a lot of hopeful weight lifters when glancing at the shelves of an assortment of kinds of whey protein powder on hand in the health food supermarket.

Which one is right for you; concentrate or isolate?

The most imperative differentiation amid the two is that Isolate is processed at deeper levels so that the fat and lactose are removed. This more involved system provides a higher quality of protein.

Whey concentrate has smaller protein available ad this can range from anywhere between 29% all the way up to 89% in some brands. Concentrate is higher in levels of lactose so anyone who suffers from lactose intolerance should to be very cautious.

Inexpensive Dorm Room Decorating for Students

By Julie Clark Robinson

Just because you're about to use all of your money on tuition, books, room and board doesn't mean you have to have a drab, run-of-the-mill dorm room. There are simple and inexpensive ways to add your own personal style to the four walls that your college has to offer. The first place to start won't cost you a cent - your roommate. Don't buy a thing until you find out what (s)he has to offer. Then, make a list for 'needs' and a list of 'wants'. Surely you realize that the things you actually need are the priority, right? Here are some other things to keep in mind when shopping on a budget:

1. Where to shop? Chances are you don't have a lot of time to drive from store to store doing price comparisons. This is where online shopping can really make sense. You don't even have to buy gas for the car, that's always a plus. Another great option is to go straight to the thrift store or Salvation Army nearest your dorm. Why? Outgoing seniors from the previous year often pass along their furnishings in the most convenient way possible.

2. Cover up boring walls. Painting dorms isn't usually an option, but there are several other ways to bring some color and visual interest to dorm walls. Fabric, tacked into the ceiling against a wall, adds texture, warmth and any color that you and your roommate can agree on. Or, how about starting a collage? All you need is a big piece of foam board hung on the wall and the rest will evolve throughout the year as you college concert tickets, pictures and posters. What's more, if you come across a friend who is an art student, it can't hurt to ask them to contribute to the project.

3. Don't buy carpet when you can save with throw rugs instead. Think about it -- you pay for carpet by the square foot, so why cover areas under furniture such as beds, desk and dressers? Instead, buy a few strategically placed throw rugs to soften and warm the floors for months of spreading out on the floor to study.

4. Keep looking for treasures. In order to separate your room from everyone else's that you know, there are ways to combine form with function that can be uniquely your own. For example take the basic student crate that most use for storage, and weave plush fabric throughout the openings for a splash of color and texture. Dated desk and floor lamps can be made to look modern with a simple lampshade update. A plain waste basket can be painted with sponges to incorporate a design that appeals to you.

Creativity is the thrifty student's best friend when it comes to putting together your first home away from home. You have a big year ahead of you, so do your best to create a nurturing living environment as you go along.

Courses for CompTIA A Plus - News

By Jason Kendall

Computer training for CompTIA A+ covers four specialised areas - you'll need exam certification in two of these areas to be competent in A+. This is why, the majority of colleges simply provide 2 of the four in the syllabus. Our opinion is this is selling you short - sure, you can pass an exam, but knowing about the others will prepare you more fully for when you're in the workplace, where you'll need a more comprehensive understanding. So that's why you deserve training in everything.

As well as learning how to build PC's and fix them, trainees of A+ will be taught how to operate in antistatic conditions, how to fault find, to diagnose and to remotely access problems. If you aspire to looking after computer networks, add the excellent Network+ to your training package. This will mean you can assist you greatly in the job market. Alternatively, you may prefer the Microsoft networking qualifications (MCP, MCSA and MCSE).

Ensure all your accreditations are commercially valid and current - don't even consider courses which lead to some in-house certificate (which is as useless as if you'd printed it yourself). Only fully recognised qualifications from the likes of Microsoft, Adobe, CompTIA and Cisco will have any meaning to employers.

The old fashioned style of teaching, with books and manuals, is an up-hill struggle for the majority of us. If all this is ringing some familiar bells, find training programs which have a majority of interactive, multimedia parts. Many studies have proved that long term memory is improved when we use all our senses, and we put into practice what we've been studying.

Locate a program where you'll receive a library of CD and DVD based materials - you'll be learning from instructor videos and demo's, with the facility to use virtual lab's to practice your new skills. All companies should be able to show you some simple examples of the type of training materials they provide. Expect video tutorials, instructor led classes and a variety of interactive modules.

Avoiding training that is delivered purely online is generally a good idea. Ideally, you should opt for CD and DVD ROM courseware where offered, so you can use them wherever and whenever you want - it's not wise to be held hostage to your broadband being 'up' 100 percent of the time.

It's important to understand: the course itself or an accreditation isn't what this is about; a job that you want is. Far too many training organisations put too much weight in the piece of paper. Don't let yourself become one of those unfortunate students that choose a course which looks like it could be fun - and get to the final hurdle of an accreditation for a career they'll never really get any satisfaction from.

Take time to understand your leanings around career development, earning potential, and how ambitious you are. It makes sense to understand what will be expected of you, what particular exams are needed and in what way you can develop commercial experience. Have a chat with someone that understands the work you're contemplating, and who'll explain to you detailed descriptions of what you actually do in that role. Contemplating this well before you start on any learning path will prevent a lot of wasted time and effort.

Don't accept anything less than the most up to date Microsoft (or any other key organisation's) authorised simulation materials and exam preparation packages. Some students can get thrown by trying to prepare themselves with questions that aren't recognised by official sources. Sometimes, the question formats and phraseology is unfamiliar and it's important to prepare yourself for this. Why don't you test your depth of understanding by doing quizzes and simulated exams to get you ready for the proper exam.

It's quite a normal occurrence for students not to check on a painfully important area - how their company actually breaks down and delivers the courseware elements, and into how many bits. Students often think it makes sense (with a typical time scale of 1-3 years to achieve full certification,) for your typical trainer to courier the courseware in stages, as you achieve each exam pass. However: With thought, many trainees understand that the company's typical path to completion isn't as suitable as another. Sometimes, it's more expedient to use an alternative order of study. And what happens if they don't finish in the allotted time?

For future safety and flexibility, most students now choose to request that all their modules (now paid for) are delivered immediately, and not in stages. That means it's down to you in which order and at what speed you want to finish things.

Cancer And Fatigue Is An Oncologists Problem

By Rita Goldman

Many oncologists are doctors who treat cancer believing that patients should be evaluated for fatigue when undergoing cancer treatment. Fatigue often means that patients have to give up many activities that could be considered normal, because they are too tired to function. There is an argument that you should be discussing your levels of fatigue with your oncologists. They should be providing the initial screening, because they can provide the basic education that those levels of fatigue lead to pain, loss of sleep, emotional disturbances, hypothyroidism and anemia.

If any of those five primary symptoms of fatigue are present they need to be treated within the guidelines of the practice of each patient. Further assessment can include a review of the system of treatment and a total review of all medications, metabolic evaluations and an accurate assessment of current physical activity levels.

There are certain symptoms of fatigue such as electrolyte imbalances, infection and cardiac dysfunction that needs specific treatments but when these are not present then there are non-pharmacological options of treatment. These can include hypnosis to help in managing pain, and improve the mood, and help in getting sleep. This can be in conjunction with a moderate gentle exercise program designed to make activities more tolerable.

Many cancer patients use hypnosis to alleviate their symptoms, but it is estimated that few of them discuss the results of alternative treatment with their oncologists. Many discuss it as a primary option, but once hypnosis is underway it is not discussed again. In fact it should be discussed and incorporated into a regime to manage your levels of fatigue as you undergo treatment. This is because the exact cause of fatigue in cancer patients has not been isolated.

A research study in Pakistan studied one hundred and ninety-one patients (1994) who each had a twenty five minute interview to assess how many of them used alternative therapies. Pakistan is a developing country, 54.5% of all patients used alternative therapies as part of their treatment. Traditional herbal medicines accounted for 70.2% and homeopathy was used by 64.4%. What was interesting is the fact that 36% or just over a third of the people studies used these treatments before conventional treatment was sought.

Only 15% used alternative methods after conventional therapeutic treatment options had been exhausted. Patients perceived that these treatments were less expensive and toxic. They have the opposite problem. The belief in Western therapies is not enough, that cancer patients will not use alternative therapies first, thus wasting a great deal of time before employing proven methods of treatment. However a recent American Cancer Society survey revealed that mind therapy which included mental imagery, hypnosis was accepted by 49% of the users.

Obviously in Pakistan, dangerous consequences of using unconventional therapies instead of proven medical care mean direct physiological harm and needless deaths, but there has to be a happy medium of using alternative therapies with the full knowledge of your oncologist who is supposed to be coordinating your treatment.

What Every Body Needs to Stay Healthy

By Dr. Jerimiah Crossderd

A September issue of the Mayo Clinic Health letter suggest that show that there is very little effectiveness in obtaining antioxidants from dietary supplements. Instead, the study found that the best way to obtain antioxidants is by eating foods that are rich in antioxidants. These antioxidants include:

vitamins C and E

carotene

lycopene

lutein

There many more compounds that play a role in fighting diseases such as cardiovascular problems, cancer, Alzheimer's, and macular degeneration. The benefits of antioxidants come from the fact that they are thought to neutralize free radicals, that are a byproduct of the natural cells metabolism.

The process of the body producing antioxidants is not very efficient and usually declines with the onset of age.

Studies are constantly showing that people who eat foods rich in antioxidants receive many health benefits. Foods have a multitude of various high amounts of antioxidants over diet supplements which makes this the ideal way to capture antioxidants.

Supplements are limited because they only offer a few of the many types of antioxidants that are found. This is a problem since Doctors do not know which antioxidants are responsible for the health benefits. Some of the better known antioxidants are:

Berry Family: Acai Berry, raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, blueberries

Beans: Small red beans and kidney, pinto and black beans

Fruit Family: Apples, avocados, cherries, pears ( all types)

Vegetables: Artichokes, spinach, red cabbage, red and white potatoes (with peels), sweet potatoes and broccoli

Drinks: green tea, coffee, red wine, acai berry juice

Nuts Family: Walnuts, pistachios, pecans, hazelnuts and almonds

Herb family: Ground cloves, cinnamon or ginger, dried oregano leaf and turmeric powder

Grains: Oat products

Dessert: Dark chocolate

Two recent studies have suggested that taking higher than recommended doses of antioxidant supplements such as vitamin E over time may actually be harmful and possibly toxic.

This is not true in many of the foods that have higher antioxidants and offer many other health benefits such as high fiber, protein and saturated fats.

There is currently no guidelines set fourth by the government on what is a considered a healthy intake of antioxidants.

It is encouraged for the time being to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables that have a high concentration of amino acids that were previously mentioned.

Online Free Public Divorce Records Search Results

By Domain Lee

There's a wealth of information about people in their divorce records and every one of us has the right to them if we care to look. They fall under State jurisdiction and every state has a designated agency responsible for their maintenance and administration. One of the functions of the incumbent office would be to provide them essentially free-of-charge for public access and retrieval. As would be expected of information of this nature, there are rules and procedures attached to the use and treatment of these free divorce records.

People use Free Divorce Records in various ways. They are required in most states when applying for a marriage license by those who were married before. Immigration, name change, background checks are other common official purposes for their retrieval but they are most frequently searched for private reasons such as when someone is checking out a prospective spouse, partner or even in-laws. Snooping neighbors or work colleagues are also known to engage in this activity a fair bit.

If you know the particular county at which the Final Decree of the divorce was granted, the whole process of obtaining the associated information is much easier. You may have to visit the office physically especially if waiting time is an issue. Mail, telephone, fax and increasingly the online option over the internet are typically also offered. The standard information on divorce records comprises the names and ages of the couple, date and place of marriage and divorce, filing number, asset division, settlement, children and their custody and visitation arrangement, reason for divorce and other pertinent information. If there were multiple divorces, searches at State repositories will produce all of them as long as they were granted within the same state.

If the exact county where the divorce was granted is not known, then state-level search is the next best thing. Many states maintain a State Divorce Index at their central Statistics Unit chartered with the public records function where Divorce is conventionally a principal vital record category along with Marriage, Birth and Death. They can generally be requested by walk-in, write-in, telephone, fax and increasingly over the internet of late. The records themselves are technically free-of-charge but administrative fees are charged. Processing time depends on the mode of request, traffic and individual office.

Getting free divorce records is much easier than it once was. If the free Divorce Public Records you're after cannot be located or trusted, there are always the professional fee-based providers that are officially certified by independent laboratories that should accord that peace of mind.

Learn Guitar Online With Ease

By Sid Timmons

When we think of the traditional guitar the first thing that comes to mind is the acoustic guitar. Electric guitars didn't show up on the scene until the early 1930's. The acoustic guitar however, has been strummed since 1779.

The acoustic guitar has been donned by many bands in their unplugged sessions mainly for its ability to produce a sound rich with raw emotion and richness. No amplifiers are used with the acoustic guitar.

Right now you may be thinking that it will be too difficult to learn to play the acoustic guitar. This is far from the truth. Get started on your journey by first picking out a guitar that fits your body style.

Please be sure you don't make the mistake many beginners make, and just borrow a guitar. You need to go ahead and purchase your own and get comfortable with it. This doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune on a brand new acoustic guitar, a used one in good shape and with the right dimensions will be fine.

Take a look online or in your local yellow pages. You won't have to look far to find a great deal on an acoustic guitar. Also check out your local music store, just be sure to ask a lot of questions.

You are now the proud owner of an acoustic guitar. Now its starting to get fun. Now, how do you plan to learn to play? We all have schedules that vary wildly so this may be a challenge. Here are a few options to start strumming that guitar like a pro:

5 High Tech and Eco-Friendly Concrete Alternatives

By Mary Smith

Now more than ever, people are requesting products, homes and buildings that are friendly to the environment. It seems "green" is the hot buzz word. Green buildings are in demand and governments are providing incentives. As a result more green buildings are being designed and more green products are being specified and used.

Concrete is an amazing material. It's long lasting, high strength and easily produced. It's one of the most common building materials used around the world. Cement, a major component of concrete however, is environmentally "dirty." One ton of carbon dioxide is produced for every ton of cement created. There has been a lot of work done recently to improve concrete by developing high-tech and green alternatives.

One of the innovations made to cement production is by Calera, a California based company. They've developed a process to produce cement that does not release any additional CO2 into the atmosphere. In fact, their techniques actually remove a half ton of CO2 from the atmosphere for ever ton of cement produced.

Not to be outdone, another California company, iCrete, has been working on mix design technology and has been able to reduce the carbon footprint of a typical construction project by 40 percent. In addition, the concrete produced is superior to standard concrete and also less expensive.

A New Jersey company, Hycrete, has developed a method to permanently waterproof concrete. This method eliminates the need and expense of using petroleum based membranes to protect underground concrete from moisture in the soil. The process also speeds up construction, helps building last longer and reduces use of petroleum-based products.

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have been studying the microstructure of concrete. Their goal was to determine how and why deterioration occurs in concrete. The results of their research show they will be able to increase the life of concrete from around one hundred years to nearly one thousand years.

Another problem with traditional concrete is the formation of very minute cracks which eventually impacts the strength of the concrete structure eventually requiring replacement of the building. University of Michigan labs have developed a concrete able to self-heal these cracks. When concrete cracks, it exposes the cement to air which usually begins the deterioration process. But with their mix, calcium carbonate in the concrete combines with carbon dioxide in the air and heals the cracks. This reduces the need to replace or repair the concrete.

Over hundreds of years, concrete has become one of the most useful building products on the planet. It's strong, durable and easily formed. Scientists, engineers and innovative companies will continue to improve concrete to reduce its environmental impact, make it even more useful, and even more economical.

Slip and Fall--Do You Have a Case?

By Rex Curtis Bush, Doctor of Jurisprudence, Attorney at Law

Many times when a person falls in an apartment complex, a parking lot at the store, or just someone else's property, we wonder who is to blame. Should you have been more aware of the surroundings? Did they know of the issues and not handle it accordingly? When filing a claim it's a tricky business, so you have to figure out the appropriate precautions.

What it comes down to is there are a few factors that will tell you whether or not the defendants should be liable for your injury. Each law is different from one state to another, so you should consult a local lawyer and know your rights.

One of the primary considerations to determine who is responsible is the duty. For instance, is Wal-Mart expected to be responsible if you fall in their parking lot? It's a complex question, but one with many considerations.

For instance, if you're getting out of your car at an apartment complex and you slip due to the ice, should they be held responsible? The truth is they might not be, especially in cold climate areas.

If the fall happened instead on a flight of stairs, however, the apartment's duty to keep those stairs clear is much greater. Falls on sidewalks are treated similarly, though the responsibility is usually the city's. The major difference between the first situation and the latter two is that a parking lot is a large area which cannot be expected to be free of ice, while the latter are smaller areas on which pedestrians have the reasonable expectation of walking safely.

The good news is they aren't always this hard to judge. In fact, if a company has poor lighting, water, or various other areas with issues, they could be legally liable for not having the issue resolved before the accident occurred. Just think about these conditions if you've come across an accident of your own.

* The fall must be caused by an establishment's owner or one of its employees.

* They knew about the problem and didn't fix it.

* In some circumstances, it can be argued that the owner or employees *should* have known about the cause had they taken reasonable care of the property. This is usually determined via common sense, and by determining if the owner has made reasonable prior maintenance efforts.

It's kind of sad that the scenarios have to be this tricky, but the best way to overcome it is by looking into the practical questions.

* Has the cause of the fall been around for long enough for the property owner to have realistically addressed it?

* If the cause was an object, was there a good reason for the object to be located there? Could it have been realistically located elsewhere and not cause injury?

* Could a warning sign or barrier kept you from getting hurt?

Then again, there will be questions against you as well regarding negligence. Here's a few you may need to answer.

* Were you distracted at the time of your fall?

* Is the obstacle something a reasonable person would have avoided?

* Why were you in the area where the accident occurred in the first place?
