Successful Preparation for Smart Liposuction

By Art Gib

Before you have liposuction performed, you will need to prepare yourself. There are many different things you will need to do in order to get ready. By preparing yourself, you will be able to minimize your risks.

First, you want to ask the doctor how much fat he will be able to remove. Some doctors are more aggressive than others. You want to see if your doctor has the same idea in mind as you do. At the same time, you do not want an overly aggressive doctor. Safety must be at the forefront of your mind.

The first thing you want to discuss during your consultation is the direction you want the surgery to go in. You must discuss your problem areas with the smart lipo surgeon. You want to see which areas he can take care of at one time. He will be able to give you a realistic idea of what he can do with your problem areas.

If you have a lot of problem areas you want him to attend to, he might have to schedule you for multiple appointments. You want to know that on your first consultation so you will know what to prepare for in regards to your smart lipo surgery.

You also need to mentally prepare yourself. Often, people think there is no need for mental preparation when they are getting plastic surgery, but that could not be further from the truth. When you get done with your procedure, you will have to get used to the new you. This can take some time, and when you are mentally prepared, you will be better off.

One way you can mentally prepare yourself is by understanding your expectations. When you have realistic expectations, you are able to be better prepared mentally. You will be able to get realistic expectations by speaking with your plastic surgeon.

Lastly, you need to make sure you are not on any medications that will make you bleed more during surgery. For several days prior to liposuction, you want to stop taking aspirin and ibuprofen, as they both keep the blood from clotting. You want those medications to be out of your system prior to having the surgery.

After that, you want to discuss price. After the doctor meets with you and sees what he will need to do, he will be able to let you know how much the procedure is going to cost. You want to make sure it is something you can afford. When you are discussing price, you can also find out if he accepts any payment arrangements.
