Caring For Hemorrhoids

By Richard Hill

Do you or someone you know suffer from hemorrhoids? This condition is very painful, and often difficult to deal with. Whether they are itchy, annoying or real painful, they are the result of inflammation of the veins in the rectum. If you suffer from hemorrhoids, there are a few different ways to treat this condition.

For temporary relief you will want to start by soothing your hemorrhoids. There are internal and external hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids you can feel as they are outside the anus. The external hemorrhoids are usually the ones that cause the most pain. If you are seeking relief from external hemorrhoids, consider a sitz bath. Sitz baths are also known as hip baths. A sitz bath is when you can sit in a shallow pan of warm water. This will allow the hemorrhoids to be clean and sooth. Often just warm water is enough to give you relief, but you can also pour a little bit of white vinegar into the water to help with healing.

You can do this Sitz baths up to three times a day if you feel the need to do so. The procedure does not have to last longer; just make use of the warm water while it is warm. Drying the area should be done gently to avoid further scrubbing which might worsen the irritation and inflammation.

When you have troublesome hemorrhoids always wear light, loose, clothing. Women may find it nice to wear a light skirt, and cotton undergarments to help speed up the healing process. Wearing Khakis will be more beneficial to you for healing and relief instead of jeans. The more air that can hit the area, the faster they will heal and the more relief you will get.

Changing your diet will help you reduce the chance of repeat hemorrhoids. If you add more grains and fiber into your diet, it will help with your digestive system. This will also put less strain on your body during bowel movements. Everyone reacts to a change in diet differently, so if your dealing with persistent hemorrhoids, you can think about what you've been eating that might be causing it. Analyzing your diet, will help you figure out what the problem is, and get you eating the right foods to stop them.

There are many different ways and alternative solutions available to treat external hemorrhoids. Some treatments may be effective and comfortable to other people but may not be effective and comfortable to you. What you need to do is to determine which of these treatments is best for your individual needs. Once you found the right treatment for your type of body system, stick to it and have patience in doing the procedures. In due time you will feel relief and the discomfort will finally go away.
